EDIT: On 1 February the Australian Government announced sanctions on 16 individuals and 2 military-owned entities MEC and MEHL. Further sanctions were announced by the UK, US, and Canada.
See the sanctions database to view all sanctioned individuals and entities.
An updated sanctions factsheet is forthcoming.
Launched by the Australian Council for International Development and Myanmar Campaign Network on 31 January, the factsheet reveals Australia is responsible for just 1% of the international sanctions response on human rights abuses in Myanmar.
The UK, US, EU, and Canada have issued 421 sanctions on 181 individuals and 178 entities in response to the atrocity crimes in Rakhine state and since the coup in Myanmar exactly two years ago.
Human rights abuses must be met with targeted sanctions. Australia must scale up its sanctions regime against the Myanmar military generals.
